San Antonio Felon Sentenced to Over 16 Years for Dealing Fentanyl in Schertz

The U.S. Department of Justice reports in its press release (quotation, not an independent finding): “SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio man was sentenced in federal court to 200 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, announced U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons for the Western District of Texas. According to court documents, in 2025, the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office began investigating Daniel Mendoza Jr., 44. Throughout the investigation, Mendoza advertised “cocaine, bars, and perk 30s” on social media and completed multiple sales of illicit pills laced with fentanyl and fluorofentanyl in Schertz. Mendoza was arrested on Jan. 14, 2026. A search of his residence revealed Mendoza stored additional fentanyl, cocaine, and alprazolam in his kitchen. In his bedside table, Mendoza, a convicted felon with an extensive criminal history, stored a .40 caliber pistol and a magazine loaded with 10 rounds. Mendoza was indicted on Jan. 7 for two counts of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and two counts of possession with intent to distribute fluorofentanyl. A superseding indictment on March 4 added a third count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and one count of felon in possession of a firearm. Mendoza pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl on May 28. The Drug Enforcement Administration and Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Amy Marie Walker prosecuted the case. ###”
